For Families & Loved ones

For Families

When a loved one is addicted to alcohol, opioids, heroin, meth, prescription pills, gambling, video gaming, or raging, it affects the family and the children. When we accept that we can only control ourselves and are not responsible for another person’s actions, we can separate our love for them from their substance use. We still love them, we can still help them, but we don’t have to hold their pain.

Sharing our experiences helps us understand that we aren't alone.

Strong neighborhood cohesion and social ties have proven to help lower drug rates and related consequences. Building community can be shown in many ways including:

  • Creating opportunities

  • Facing our fears

  • Treatment for Trauma

  • Asking for help

  • Seeking to understand

Al‑Anon is a mutual support program for people whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking. Families and friends of alcoholics can help bring positive changes to their individual situations, whether or not the alcoholic admits the existence of a drinking problem or seeks help.

If you are bothered by someone else’s drinking, Al-Anon and Alateen Family Groups may be able to help. We are a fellowship of men, women, and children who share our experience, strength and hope in order to solve our common problems.

The Nar-Anon Family Groups is primarily for those who know or have known a feeling of desperation concerning the addiction problem of someone very near to you. We have traveled that unhappy road too, and found the answer with serenity and peace of mind.
